THE PROGRAM

My IndigiTech Learning Portfolio

IndigiTech gave me an opportunity to strengthen my digital skills while exploring how technology can support education, storytelling, research, community work, and professional growth. Throughout the program, I completed projects in web development, UX research and design, digital art, business, professional communication, and mentorship.

This page brings those projects together and reflects on what I learned through the process of researching, designing, creating, revising, and collaborating with others.

Projects and Learning Areas

Each part of the IndigiTech program helped me develop a different set of skills. Some projects focused on technical creation, while others challenged me to think about users, communication, accessibility, collaboration, and the purpose behind what I was building.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

Braiding the Fire Portfolio Website

I designed and developed a multi-page portfolio website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The website brings together my academic work, personal writing, digital projects, research, and the development of Echoes of Us. Throughout the project, I worked on page structure, navigation, responsive design, visual consistency, accessibility, image placement, and personal branding.

Skills and tools: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Visual Studio Code, responsive design, accessibility, and website organization.

UX RESEARCH AND DESIGN

Safe to Tell: Youth Internet Safety

Safe to Tell is a two-part UX project that supports Indigenous youth internet safety through an adult training app and a fully covered two-day youth retreat. The app prepares parents, caregivers, teachers, and trusted adults to respond with care instead of punishment, while the retreat gives youth practical, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental online safety education.

Skills and tools: UX research, affinity mapping, personas, survey design, workshop design, Figma.

DIGITAL ART

Visual Identity and Digital Storytelling

In digital art, I explored how colour, typography, imagery, and composition work together to communicate a message. I created visual elements for my portfolio, including a website banner, logo, and supporting graphics. This work helped me develop a clearer visual identity for Braiding the Fire.

Skills developed: Canva, colour theory, typography, composition, digital illustration, and branding.

BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION

Communicating Ideas with Purpose

The business and communication portions of IndigiTech helped me strengthen the practical writing needed to move ideas into professional spaces. My work included resumes, business correspondence, and project planning. These activities reminded me that a strong idea also needs to be explained clearly.

Skills developed: Professional writing, audience awareness, project planning, and personal branding.

The IndigiTech program has given me a set of tools that I feel confident using as I continue my educational journey and professional work.
